FED:High speed train study to be released

A federal government study has found tickets for high-speed trains, connecting cities
across the eastern seaboard, could rival the cost of flying.

Federal Transport Minister ANTHONY ALBANESE is due to release the first stage of a
20 million dollar study into building such a network later today.

It's believed the train network could cost as much as 100 billion dollars, with most
of that expense involved in land acquisition.

It's estimated tickets for a three hour journey between Sydney and Melbourne would
cost between 99 and 200 dollars.
