Rensselaer County may not be generally considered a tourist destination but it has its own tourism office dedicated to promoting everything the county has to offer.
``Collectively, Rensselaer County attracts over 200,000 tourists a year,'' said Michelle McAvoy, project manager for Rensselaer County tourism.
The tourism department, which operates out of the Office of Economic Development and Planning, helps promote many large events in Rensselaer County, including the popular Schaghticoke Fair.
