NSW; One injured on bushwalk

SYDNEY, Aug 1 AAP - An injured bushwalker was one of six people winched to safety by a
rescue helicopter in the New South Wales Southern Highlands today.

The woman suffered leg injuries after a fall yesterday, forcing the group to camp overnight
in bushland near Hill Top, CareFlight helicopter spokesman Ian Badham said.

This morning, one member of the group walked to higher ground and used a mobile phone to
alert authorities, Mr Badham said.

But police and State Emergency Service volunteers had difficulty locating the group on foot
so the helicopter was called in.

A medical team was winched down to stabilise the woman and eventually all six bushwalkers
were airlifted to a property where police had set up a rescue base.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Bowral Hospital, Mr Badham said.
